From jewelry workshops to lectures, exhibitions and more, there are so many opportunities to gather and appreciate our favorite art form. Jewelry retreats and symposiums are great places to learn from your favorite instructors and recharge your creative batteries.

Jan. 11-13, 2018 at University of Texas El Paso/Stanlee & Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts.

Halstead was proud to sponsor the ECU Material Topics Symposium, Jewelry edition.

January 12-14, 2018 at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

This year’s theme was Deconstruct/Reconstruct. By deconstructing the boundaries of traditional processes, perceptions of value or the idea of adornment itself, each of the artists they selected have redefined what it means to be a metalsmith. Some have literally reconstructed disparate materials to create a new whole, while others have pushed the limits of metalsmithing processes to new heights.

 

Baltimore Jewelry Center presents Ornamenta, an annual fundraising party. The event features a raffle and silent auction with work from many art jewelers from around the country as well as donations from awesome local businesses and restaurants.

February 3rd, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

 The Yuma Symposium is a series of demonstrations, lectures and slide presentations given by both internationally recognized and emerging artists who have demonstrated unusual talent. Activities include an exhibit of work by presenters and a student show, the National Saw, File, & Solder Sprints, the annual pin auction, shopping and eating in Algodones, Mexico, and a fiesta and dance on Saturday night.

February 22-24, 2018 in Yuma, Arizona

 

Arrowmont offers an opportunity for people of all skill levels to spend a weekend, a week or two weeks immersed in art-making – experimenting, learning new techniques, exploring a variety of media and forms of expression – or simply taking time to be fully focused and present in a creative manner without the distractions of daily life.

Penland School of Crafts students come from all walks of life. Some see Penland as a productive retreat, some as a source of inspiration for their personal creative lives, and others as a place to exchange vital information about material, technique, and process. What brings them all together is a love of materials and making, and the often transformative experience of working with intensity and focus in a supportive community atmosphere.

CoMA Annual Metalsmithing Conference

“Raising awareness and encouraging development of metalsmithing as an artistic and professional endeavor, through education, exhibition, and cooperation.” – CoMA

At the annual conference in July, CoMA invites nationally and internationally known artists to share their knowledge and experience. A selection of those artists will also teach workshops both before and after the conference

At Art Unraveled, join in the camaraderie and forge life-long friendships while learning and creating in workshops taught by internationally known artists. With dozens and dozens of workshops to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

Meeting new people and forming meaningful business relationships is the hallmark of the Women’s Jewelry Association and its world-wide network of members. Jewelry Night Out is an annual event that brings people together.

Seattle Metals Guild Northwest Jewelry & Metals Symposium is a once-a-year gathering of makers and speakers from different corners of the Pacific Northwest and the globe is an eagerly awaited tradition for metalsmiths, artists, and jewelers of all stripes. Everyone is warmly invited to attend – registration is open to members and non-members alike.
